Hiring Business Analysts: How to Stand Out as a Business Analyst

The West Michigan IIBA Chapter will host a panel discussion of companies who are currently hiring business analysts in the West Michigan region. This is your opportunity to ask questions to the panelists and find out what they look for in business analyst candidates and also how to get your resume noticed.

Whether you are currently in the market to change jobs, a student that will soon be looking for your first job, a business analyst manager who wants to confirm your alignment with current hiring practices, or just want to investigate the current conditions of the marketplace, this session is your opportunity to hear directly from those who actively participate in, and make the decisions, in hiring business analysts. Our panelists come from prominent companies in the West Michigan region.
They will discuss their perspectives on hiring business analysts. The panelists will take questions from the audience, so come learn what skills, experience and competencies you need to bring to the marketplace to be considered a top BA candidate and achieve your goals. This will be a very informative session to find out about the local business analysis marketplace.

Kary Lucas, Manager IT, Research & Development/Global Planning/Administration, Amway Corporation

Kary has been with Amway for 18 years and has held previous management positions at the Kellogg Corporation World Headquarters.
Kary’s Agile IT teams partner with Amway business areas such as: Research and Development, Legal, Human Resources, Aviation, Global Planning, Sales Analysis and Forecasting.
 

Kim Grimm, Information Solutions Manager and Interim Director, Spectrum Health Priority Advantage

In this role, Kim leads the design, development, delivery, and support of Priority Advantage’s technology solutions. In 2009, Kim joined Spectrum Health, a nationally recognized integrated health system, and has been involved in many areas around Information Solutions including incident management, change management, development, and leadership.
 

Mihaela Popescu, CBAP, Information Solutions Lead Business Analyst, Spectrum Health Priority Advantage

Mihaela is business analyst professional with 28 years of experience in the Information Technology arena. During her career, Mihaela worked in applications development, systems integration, quality assurance, software training, project management and business analysis across many industries: statistical, consulting, pharmaceutical, healthcare and health insurance.She is currently leading the Business Analysis Center of Excellence for Priority Advantage.
 

John DeYoung Sr, Transportation IT Team Manager, Gordon Foods Service

John worked at GFS for 20 years. Most recently in this role of Team Manager. The Transportation team is responsible for support of all Drivers, Routers, and Fleet Managers in the US and Canada. In 2016, the team won the annual J&P Cup award, recognizing exceptional teamwork and leadership.
 

Moderator - Elizabeth Busch, IT Recruiter, Project Management and Business Analysis,TEKsystems

Elizabeth moved to Grand Rapids about 5 years ago. After being in Admissions at Davenport University. She started her career at TEKsystems in December 2015 as a Recruiter.
Elizabeth’s focus as a recruiter is in Business Analysis and Project Management. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, being outdoors, hanging family and friends, and taking her gorgeous pup Riley for a walk!
